In accordance with the recent exhibition at the Pacific Science Center, Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs (May 24-Jan 6 2013), we wanted to highlight some our very own hidden treasure. This strand of turquoise and golden beads seems to simulate an egyptian collar that you may see in the exhibition. We promise to withhold any curses if you come in and explore our fabulous finds!

Today is the 168th birthday of famed female American impressionist, Mary Cassatt! Known for her mother and child portraits, she was very adept at capturing a nurturing and private moment in paint. In the same vein, coral was traditionally worn as a protector of Mother and Child in the Victorian era. Our cache of coral here includes a pair of earrings, a floral carved brooch, and a string of coral beads.

Our window display downtown is filled to the brim with the pieces we brought to the show, each diamond in its own special little box.

Sometimes, a treasured piece of jewelry can find new life as a different kind of object. For example, this classic art deco brooch has been tastefully converted into this skyscraper of a ring with a striking resemblance to the Chrysler Building in NYC, an emblem of art deco geometric style. Constructed of platinum with a white gold shank, this ring features a combination of old European cut and baguette diamonds totaling 1.40 carats. Dramatic and exquisite!
